Well the one that really got me into pc games was: "Terra Nova" from way back.
Usually never finish a game without a cheat, too time consuming, but this one I did. Fond memmory of it.
By Kyoto! Hello high waters! [katie] wiil be back!
Oh yeah, definitly Deus Ex, still one of the best PC games out there. Gameplay is everything here.
Diablo 2 was fine too, it was addictive but later on it became too repitive and the Hell mode for Paladin was near impossible. I could not get past the Den of Evil! I beleive this is where Blizzard choked, in designing difficulty, the thin line between impossible and crossable but with 40 deaths!

I'm waiting for the rumored release of Starcraft2. I can't believe Starcraft is still alive on battle.net after 5 years AND still gets a freaking 500,000 players a day!
Boy, some of you guys are really missing out, reducing yourself to console games only.
Hmm
Not in any particular order
Wasteland
Fallout 1&2
Bards Tale
Baldurs Gate 2 TOB
Planescape Torment
Betrayal at Krondor
Pool of Radiance (The original)
Battletech (The first)
Probably a few others I'm failing to mention. There have been so many.
Anything goes when it comes to hoes cuz pimpin aint easy.
the best rpg series (SERIES!) i have to say if the Final Fantasy series ,however the best rpg might be balder's gate although some might say it is not.

leisure suite was a great game...Also i forgot about all the lucasarts RPG's/adventures like The Curse of Monkey Island and Full Throttle..THOSE were some terrific games. and Flamethrower...I'm an FPS fan, but RPG's do have that addictive feel where you live and breathe and eat for your character because your so into it.

Most comp RPGs are way different from consoles and are rather less fun IMO. Nothing will ever be more RPG demonstrating than Final Fantasy games, you got the definition of RPG right there, THEY TAKE ROLES! Diablo is not an RPG, you move around and you don't even see the damage dealt! Console RPGs are more authentic to me, and more fun too, as well as dynamic, like FFs (FF3 had the best Active Time Bar gameplay, cuz when Terra would be casting -praying- a spell, and the others too, you feel like there is teamwork, while one attacks and the others are summoning) or Breath of Fire, or even Mario RPG! Mystic Quest also was extremly RPG definitive, no wait to attack, your turn, your role, your attack. Ahh these old days...

I've played my share of consoles. And yes, Saturday evenings during mid/high school, I would have a headache. 60hz for 10+ hours just doesn't do you any good.
I wouldn't even compare the console RPG's with the PC ones. It's like comparing Dolphins to Salmon.
Sure they both live in the sea, but they're different species...
You do not take roles in console RPG's. You are so locked into what your charater is and 99% of the time you have to be the good guy. Diablo is barely a RPG itself compared to most computer RPG's. It's more of a action game than anything. Now if your not into computer RPG's than that's fine but to actually state that you cannot take roles on a PC RPG?! I suggest you go out and play the Baldurs Gate series, PS Torment, Daggerfall (And the upcoming Morrowind}, Fallout series, etc... I hope your not making such a generalization of PC RPG's based off of Diablo.

While it's not a computer game, the ENTIRE Dungeons & Dragons series is built around roleplay, and henceforth, enjoying it too. Thus I guess they made the Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale series. Both are very successful. Now, there needs to be more open ended RPGs out there...where you could be good...or evil...or crazy As for computer RPG, heh...gotta go with Everquest here, good game. Ultima Online too
Well I didn't say strictly console RPGs have locked roles, but personally PC RPGs are often derivative of old paper and dice games, or don't have the much needed storyline Consoles give. I may not have played many PC RPGs so please don't throw at me any flames for it, but however I have seen many examples and details of them.

Just take it from me, I'm a fan of both and the storylines in PC games and roles you can play are superiour to console games. However they tend to be a alot slower while playing and many console gamers have a difficult time making the transition.

Since you said favorite, not best, then I would have to go with my childhood addiction: the original Pool of Radiance. Played it on my C64, and it came on eight 5 1/2" floppies, lol.
Looking back I'm sure you could find 100 things wrong with it, but man in the mid 80s there was was nothing better. It revolutionized role playing. Up until then it was all pencil and paper and funny looking dice.

Wizardry 8, too bad Sirtech went out of business. Very balanced game with 16 different classes and a bunch of different races. Multiple story lines, should have been very replayable, but for some reason me and my friend couldn't get into the second time around. BTW NPC's are very cool and you can attack them all and gain valuable items. Dungeon Siege is a new game that is very similar to Diablo 2, haven't got into it alot yet but it's pretty cool
I beat Serious Sam 2 on the weekend, great game. A couple of friends tried it multiplayer and said it's really good, but I haven't had the pleasure yet.

oh yes.... but if your all decent players i suggest u dont 'just' play multiplayer, rather select "extra multiplayer enemies" and also buff the monster strength a litte, cauz ive found that 4 players toting miniguns can turn anything into creamcheeze!
(possibly go for 25% extra monster strength per added player or somethin)
apart from that, happy hosing.
