unknown pci device, anyone???

i know i read a post here a while back about someone having the same problem, but i cant find it. anyway, i installed win2k... in device mgr i have an unknown pci device. it says "pci bus0, device 31, funct 3" does anyone know what this is? i have no onboard devices.... p3 w/intel board (its an ibm netvista 6579) i cant tell what the borad is exactly, 810 chipset i believe. hmmm, i guess thats it for now.

If it's not an onboard device...
Check to see what PCI cards you have in your system and then see which one hasn't been installed into the OS properly.

If you have a SB Live installed, the drivers provided in Win2k as well as the manufacturer's drivers don't make all parts of it run. I have the same issue, only I know that it is some component of my SB Live....

I found a similar problem installing Win2K fresh, I then installed the Via 4n1 drivers (I have a Via chipset based MB) and the unknown PCI device was the Via Power Management Controller.

Try installing the chipset drivers for your motherboard.

Let us all know how you get on.
