I have a quick question. Should I go ahead and order the E6600 OEM version, or should I wait for the boxed version. I'm not going to use the stock fan that comes with it, but I'm interested in the warranty.

Is it worth it, to wait for the boxed version?

Thanks

This product has a limited warranty of:
12 months for parts and 12 months for labor.
This warranty is provided by Intel.

yeah, just saw that. thx

is the extended warranty worth it? They're trying to offer it to me. I plan on overclocking it, but with the best stuff. Highend asus mobo, great power supply, liquid cooling. Just like tomshardware did.

Sounds like that's going to be the case for retail versions. But meh, OEM works for me.

Dude, I bought my E6600 and Didnt pay for the Extended Warranty because I dont think on overclocking it or doing nothing dangerous. But if you are going to overclock I dont really know what to recommend you

I just say $80 for 1 year warranty for me is a rip-off.

for the company selling the warranty, it is a massive profit center. For every product out there, this usually holds.

OEM Will work for me too since I bought it OEM on tigerdirect now I got a $15 dollar rebate on my next purchase im gonna get a thermaltake cooler for only $10.

Hope that works for everybody because You are not gonna get Retailed boxed conroe until mid-august

Thats why I dont wanna overclock. For my father $399.00 was alot for only the processor and I dont want to mess it up overclocking it.

Conclusion

I didnt buy the exetended TIgerDirect warranty because is expensive AND because im not thinking of overclocking.

Yes that seems to be the case.

Either way, I would strongly recommend everyone to wait a month or so before buying, especially after the price levels off and more motherboards support it.

But then again, no one likes waiting =)

I made a mistake in there, it wasnt really a $15 rebate on next purchase. It was a suscriber thing where you pay $10 a month for some service and you get $15 on your next purchase on TigerDirect.

Sorry for the bad Info
