Some really strange things go on here:

Since the HD is installed (and working fine as it seems) the network
throughput is close to 0. Without the HD installed I have around 1240
Kbytes or nearly 10 MBit - not much since it's a 100 MBit Connection
(set to autodetect on both ends) but enough. Now when the HD is
installed the speed drops to < 50 Kbytes or below 0,5 MBit. Is there
any way to fix this?

With the hd there is it always writing to the disk before printing?
Could it be a fault with the disk that it cant write to it at a normal
speed.

If it is only doing c. 10 MBit without is it possible to tell it is has
a 100 MBit connection rather than the autodetect?
