OK from the information I can gather this is what I believe is going on!
July 27 ( the official release day of core 2 duo ). Retailers got a SMALL number of core 2s to put up for sale ONLY the lucky first few people to order will probily get there core 2s soon. On August 4th larger shipments will be available and people on backorder right now should have them shipped that day. All the rest of us will probily have to wait for the next shipment of core 2s and even then probily only people on backorder will get them. For the majority of people we will probily have to wait till end of August - early september to be able to get core 2s on a regular basis.
