I would suggest you try and get some faster RAM. It seems like a shame to get the fastest motherboard going for Conroe, and put valueRam in it. I don't know how much you're paying for the valueram, so i won't suggest anything yet, as i know that 2GB of performance RAM is very expensive in Canada.

Uhh.... he can use an Nvidia card on a Crossfire board just fine.... he just can't use 2 of them at once.
Actually he can use 2 of them at once - just not in SLI mode.

But the question is why pay a $100 premium for a Crossfire board if you're planning on using a single 7900 GT?

If eicca isn't going for Extreme overclocking maybe he can consider the Abit AB9-Pro 965X motherboard and spend the extra $100 on some low-latency DDR2 RAM.

The nForce 500 series motherboards should start showing up shortly which should offer more choices to nVidia card owners.

Why pay that much for a motherboard? As others have said, you aren't running dual video cards, let alone ATI ones, so why pay for a board that doesn't do much more than ones that cost $150-$170?

I'm paying that much for a motherboard mostly because it's the best Conroe motherboard available in Canada right now, Crossfire or not. As for overclocking, I dont plan on doing that much (or at least in the neat future), so ValueRAM is fine for me, as it saves me some money too. Those 2 1GB DIMMS cost me about 200CAD, which is pretty much the cheapest I can find 2GB, before mail in rebates and the such (which I really dont want to go through the hassle of doing).

I also dont plan on SLI'ing any cards together, even if I do get a second one in the future.

Thanks all for help.

I say get a X1800XT insted of 7900GT ... it`s better & will match your MotherBoard ... & it runs oblivion much better than 7900GT ...

Yes, but as I recall, the X1800XT does worse in everything else compared to the 7900 GT KO I'm getting.
