Cpu, mobo and ram, budget -> 600$+

CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 processor @ 1.83GHZ -> 254.99$ CAD

Motherboard : ASRock ConRoeXFire-eSATA2 Motherboard (cheap) 89.99$ CAD

Ram: Probably Corsair 2x1GB DDR2 Ram @ 533mhz, since anything higher will bottleneck my cpu. - 250.99$

Total 680$

What u guys think? Should i upgrade to a x1900xt instead? and change my psu? I think i want to wait for dx10 cards, and build up on weaker parts of my system first, since i'm still using a x800xl. And the ram is getting rdy for vista.

What do u guys think i should get? Any opinions and suggestions? Its really frustrating to decide on what i should upgrade 2. My main priorty for the summer was to buy a card, but now that conroes came out, it change my mind.

What is your current system ? DX10 and Vista are a lot of hype, by the time software and games start to make use of the extra feature set, early DX10 hardware will be obsolescent, just think about how much time it took for the gaming industry to part with DX8.

There will probably be a few trend setters using DX10 early, but the majority of games will probably still be DX9 as you've said.

anyways, my rig right now is an AMD system, heres the specs.

Amd althon 64 , 3500+ @ 2.2ghz (venice) (with zalman cooler)
MSI K8N-NEOF mobo 939 socket
Powercolour x800xl 256mb
OCZ Extreme Gamer's edition DDR400 PC3200 RAM 1GB (Gold edition)
160GB Seagate HDD
16x Lg dvd writer
Coolermaster centurion 5 case with stock 350 watt psu
Samsung 19 inch monitor 8ms
Saitek Eciplise keyboard & MX510 logetich gaming mouse
Logeitch 2.1 speakers with subwoofer
Quickcam. etc etc.

and thats about it in general. So anyways, i'm wondering if i should go for a better motherboard, since that ASROCK one, is really a budget priced mobo, but it's not really that good as from what i heard from reviews. It's stable right? But not good for overclocking. I don't intend to overclock my cpu. And is a E6300 faster then a x2 3800? What can a E6300 do? How come any ram over 533mhz of speed can underclock the conroe's speed...??? @_@,

Oh yeah btw which ASROCK mobo with conroe compatible is better? the ConRoe945G-DVI or the ConRoeXFire-eSATA2

LOL why do you need 750w power supplies?? I really think you would be wasting your power bill and thats overkill, you dont need that much power.

Your least expensive option would be to add 1 gig of RAM, bump your proc to a 4600 or a 4800 and get a better video card. You'll be able to thoroughly enjoy most any games until Vista ships in 2009 or 2010 (not including the first required service pack).

I just lost my computer I built 3 years ago or so. It was using the Asus A7N8X-dx mob and after trying to find out what was wrong with it (buying $500+ of equipment to try and fix it) I am guessing the mob finally gave way as I'm not getting any signs of life on power up now.

Anyway I am not sure if I should just buy a system already built or try and build a barebone again since I still can use a lot of my current hard ware (i think). Reciently I have spent way too much $ on repairing my other system. I am not sure if that is just bad luck or bad building on my part. I tend to SUCK at RAM. I swear I have a good 9 sticks sitting here which appear to all be bad in some form. I have learned that you need to install it very carefully and never touch it again. The same goes for CPU installing. I had tried to fix my orginal CPU (AMD XP 2400+) after I realized the PC was coring because the cpu was over heating. That became the first issue I have had in 2 years with the system. And from there, things went down hill.

Wanted:
MOB: I like the Asus M2N32 WS Pro or Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 4600 AM2 Dual Core or the AMD 64 X2 3800+ AM2
VID: not sure yet. Geforce prefered. Definaly dual dvi support.
HD: I already have hard drives
RAM: anything by corsair I like. One of the mob's supports DDR2, so I'm not sure if older DDR's are allowed.
SOUND: any on board
NETWORK: any on board

I am a video production guru who loves AMD systems. I do a little gaming as well. I would like to mainly find a system which would be highly stable.

Any thought or suggestions? Any recomended good distributors near the eastern coast? Is the mob's i specified good for video editing and design work? I definatly want the X2 dual core since that is the newest toy. I like Asus mob's too but also have found Gigabyte and tyan to be good choices.

Thanx guys.

I actually like Linux very much. I use Gentoo mainly. For this system however, I need to go with a winxp os. Any suggestions on what mob I was thinking of?
