ACPI.SYS file corrupt

I have tried to install Windows 2000 Server on two
different machines. I have tried to install server from
CD onto a clean partition on a Windows 2000 Professional
machine and a clean partition on a Windows XP machine.
Both times I received a ACPI.Sys file corrupt issue. I
wanted to dual boot between the two operating systems.
Any ideas why I am getting this error?

You didn't mention the drive controller (possibly SCSI, or ultra DMA, or
ATA100, or raid, or serial ATA), but you may need to boot the Windows 2000
setup disks or CD-Rom and *F6* very early and very important (at setup is
inspecting your system) in the setup to prevent drive controller detection,
and select S to specify additional drivers. Then later you'll be prompted to
insert the manufacturer supplied Windows 2000 driver for your drive's
controller in drive "A"

If you wait and then S to specify additional drivers, then it may be too
late as Windows 2000 Setup at this point may have already assigned the
resources your drive's controller is wanting to use.

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure which drive controller
I have (except I know it is not SCSI). I also know that I
cannot install on XP machine, but I was getting same error
message that the acpi.sys file was corrupt.

I am not sure what you mean by:
"If you wait and then S to specify additional

Setup at this point may have already assigned the

Please explain.

If your drive controller driver isn't included on the Windows 2000 install
CD-Rom then you'll need to supply one (from the manufacturer) during
text-mode setup. In order to install a third party driver you usually need
to interrupt (F6) text mode setup prior to controller detection phase of
setup to ensure the correct driver is installed.

hi ppl!

I´m having a problem (with someone else´s computer) with WIN XP,
because when I restart windows, it crashes when booting (I know that I
sould have posted in the right thread, but this is exactly my error).

Then I put the WIN XP CD to repair some error or something, and when it
was loading the files, it has appeared this error:

"acpi.sys is corrupted"

I have been reading all the post´s but still I don´t know what is the
problem.

Could anyone help me in this?!
