First up I know I'm getting way ahead of myself here, but I always
like to know as much as possible about what I'm doing so I'll ask
anyway ..

Ok my RohanKnight Haftedmaster is currently around level 88 of Angband
I think having recently managed to get past Dim Gates on the way to
finding Sauron/Morgy and after destroying the One Ring.

I've been trying to research this question but seem to have found some
differing opinions in different places.

I was wondering if someone was able to give me a list of items you
HAVE to get in order to going diving into the Void.

From what I understand you essentially need some item that grants air
breathing, what this can be aside from the cloak of air I destroyed
right back when I started playing and didnt know better, seems to be a
little unclear.

I also read that you need some kind of item to be turned into one of
the 'eternal items' ??

Cheers

Generally, it is better to post to the tome forums on www.t-o-m-e.net
since I don't think ToME qualifies as an *band anymore.

You need air breathing to enter the Void, the only source of this IIRC
is Cloak of Air (if you have Staff of Wishinig go with 'elven cloak of
air'.) Once you kill a certain monster you will get a strong ring
which grants air breathing and has other positive characteristics as
well.

You need a plain long sword, mage staff, or power dragon scale mail (I
would pick the PDSM), yes, and the point of this will become evident to
you at the same time you get the aforementioned ring.

If you are going to melee the endboss it helps to have a massive stack
of Cure Insanity potions (find a potion shop) as he drains alot of
sanity each round.

I'm hoping Air skill 50 works for my void hopeful. There's the cloak.
I think certain subraces work. And possesion of breathless creatures
should work. I haven't heard of any other items that help. But I
haven't been there yet, so don't take my word for it.

I don't suppose that this monster is outside of the void is it?

I've just knocked off Sauron and Morgoth with amazing ease, in fact i
think i lost almost no hp against morgoth who was pretty much stunned
and cursed to oblivion.

I don't think i have much choice but to melee him being a haftedmaster
but thanks for the tip.

I wonder if Melkor abandons you if he is your god and you attempt to
kill him :)

He should have abandoned you back when you destroyed the Ruling Ring.
All gods but Morgoth abandon you if (and only if) you wear the One,
Melkor abandons you if (and only if) you destroy it. It shouldn't be
possible to fight him if he is still your god.

Oh right, well he did abandon me when I destroyed the one ring, except
maybe he was feeling guilty as he allowed me to worship him once
again. I guess I just fight Morgoth again in the void if i can ever
find something to let me breath without air.
