I was about to build a PC to do high-end 3D work and casual gaming...

I was thinking of building around a OC'ed Pentium D 915...

I'm looking to hear about mobo's that will help me do that...

I had planned to go cheap this summer and then upgrade to Conroe (and new mobo) next summer...

I keep seeing boards that are in the $200+ range "recommended" but $250 seems steep to me right now...

But if that's the cost of what's "safe" / "best" than please tell so...

Any pointers on mid-range motherboards maybe...?

Or do I need to stretch for a good board now and save $$$ on the CPU...?

Any help is appreciated, thanks...

here's an idea..... forget the 915 and get a Conroe. The E6300 should be sufficient for now. You have the option of upgrading to a higher end Conroe, like the E6600 later For the board, pick up any of these 3:

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3

Abit AB9 Pro

Asus P5B

Finally, for the ram, pick up this set: OCZ Gold 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2-800
