Hi!

Trying to make a 2-node cluster on Win2k Adv Server + sp4: shared
storage, two network cards (private and mixed). OS was already
installed. First I turned off one of the nodes and started to install
cluster service on another. When one of the nodes is turned off the
private network connection is not available for configuration, so I
inserted it into the same switch and this made it "visible". After I
istalled cluster service, it did not start:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: ClusSvc
Event Category: (128)
Event ID: 1009
Date: 31.05.2004
Time: 17:37:33
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER1_TEST
Description:
The Clustering Service could not
join an existing cluster and
could not form a new cluster.
The Clustering Service has terminated.
Data:
0000: de 13 00 00 Þ...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the installation I got all shared disks as corrupted. I turn
off write back cache on shared controller, formated the disks again,
removed the cluster service and installed it again. After all this I
did not make my shared disks corrupted, but the cluster service did
not start with the same error. What could be the problem?

Thanks.

Do you have the hisec policy applied in your organization? If so, take a
look at the following KB article for advice:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;295091

Are you using DELL PERC raid controllers? If so, make sure you have
Write-Thru caching enabled on both nodes and enable the Cluster Mode option.

If not, it's got to be something to do with your TCP settings. Do you have
Netbios over TCP/IP enabled? Is there some type of firewall or packet
filtering enabled between hosts?

John
