Hey there, my older bro is going off to college this comming sept and my parent's are planning to spend $700 Canadian before taxes (14% tax). The computer he's getting must include all these things as well:
-17inch LCD (preferrably a good quality one)
-mouse/keyboard
-printer

The computer I built for myself is more high-end so it's a lot easier to pick parts but when you have to buy all that for $700 there's few good selections. He is using the computer to do schoolwork, listen to music, maybe watch a movie or 2 and light gaming (starcraft, rogue spear; he's a fan of older games :P). I know I could easily build him a sempron/celeron computer but I'd like to get him at least something decent. I'm not very familiar with lower-end parts and what is good because the cheaper you get the more crap there is.
I'd appreciate any help you guys have to offer maybe making some suggestions.
The two websites which I will most likley use are www.NCIX.com (price matching) and www.canadacomputers.com (very close to where I live).
This is what I'd like to try and get him:
A64 939/AM2 3000-3800
Quality mobo
1gb memory
80gb hdd
lower end but not bad video card
dvd burner
good quality 17" lcd
printer that does the job and farily fast
quality min 400W psu

any help is appreciated, thanks.
