For my new system I have an X1800XT 256MB and I am wondering, will the E6300 perform any differently to an E6600 to a NOTICEABLE extent. Won't my graphics card become the limiting factor when the frames are under 50 FPS? Will an E6300 make ANY differences to an E6600. Tests were done on a system with dual X19800XT's and any time the framerate got close to 50 the E6600 and E6300 became frames apart. I dont care if the E6600 can get 50 FPS more when the framerate is above 200... I won't notice it.

So I figure... for gaming it won't matter? And also... will I notice a difference in daily applications? It looks like an E6300 will be more than enough for me. What do you think?

Whiiiile on the subject, the only stock I can seem to find in the UK of Core 2 Duo is E6300 OEM, what would be a nice cooler to OC this thing up to E6600 levels and beyond if need be.

For your CPU, the only notable difference between the 6300 and 6600 are the L2 caches (2MB vs. 4MB), and in real-world application you won't see much of a difference. Further, you can just overclock the 63 with a decent cooler (a Zalman or maybe a tower cooler if you're so inclined) to easily surpass a stock 6600's performance.

Check out this article, though; it should be right up your alley.
