I have a mobo that supports a max RAM speed of PC4200 533Mhz RAM. Can I run PC5400 667Mhz RAM on my mobo? The reason I ask is in 8 months I'm going to upgrade to Core 2, Vista, but I need more RAM now so i am kind of upgrading now for later instead of waisting money twice. Some people have stated that some brands of RAM will just slow to what ever speed the mobo supports, and my local computer store is selling OZ select 2x1GB sticks for $150.00.

Dell Dimension 8400 P4 3Ghz 630, 1GB DDR2 533Mhz, 7800GTX 256MB

Didn't get your mesage in time, but got the 667Mhz PC5400 timings 5-5-5-10. After I installed it plugged in my power cord and boot failed. My graphics card fan went turbo, I've never hear my G-fan run that fast! Scared shitless I quickly unplugged my computer. Then put old RAM back in and worked fine, then I pulled all the RAM out of PC and turned it on same thing happened boot failed lots of beeps. It seems the with no RAM in the PC or OCZ value select pro 1GBx2 sticks gets me boot failure/4-5 beeps then graphics card fan goes turbo?? My mobo only goes up to max 533Mhz PC4200 but I've been told that if I buy faster RAM it will just slow to what ever my mobo can handle right?? But I have a Dell mobo with no access to my bios setting, hope thats not why the RAM failed to boot? I went to that site you listed and under reveiws one guy said he also had boot failure with three of his mobo's. HELP HELP HELP! :(
