In the market for a new laptop

Hello and thanks in advance. Im looking to buy a new laptop and I seen a good deal on one the only problem is a don’t know much about the new processors out Please educate me a little bit, This particular model has a Centrino Core Duo T2250 Processor 2 gig of ram and 120 gig hard drive. I am looking for dual core power, for things like video encoding while doing something else. Should this be sufficient should I wait for core 2 duo? What do you guys think? Also, what kinda battery life should I expect how does this compare to other processors on the market? BTW this model will run me 1049$

As for the Core 2 Duo's in laptops...I have no clue whats going on there.

Waiting for Merom means another month or two, 20% faster CPU, and a slightly higher price. I'm waiting until the end of this month to decide then buy whatever is out there.

A Core Duo, 2GB of RAM and 120GB HD should last years. Buy an external HD if you need more space.
