Im looking to setup a redundent array to protect my data and im not sure which would be best. A NAS with raid 5 is expencive but more practical. Buying a Sata raid card would allow me to save money, but the computer is my gaming machine too.

The amount of data needs to be around 1tb (for expandibility).
Can anyone recomend a specific NAS device or Raid contoler?

Rocket RAID 2320 8 port sata pci-express 4x. I have 4 320's on it, running RAID 5 for 8 months no probs. I also have a data server with 1TB over 8 HD's and 4 controllers, 1 sata, 2 onboard, and 1 ide, and just doing windows xp raid 5. It's fast enough for data since that's ALL it does, if you want fast on your game machine, do the 2320 since it offloads XOR work.

Those look interesting I like the not having to install drivers part :)

Problem is they are PCI, you can't get speeds like they advertise over the pci bus.
