I'm building a new computer, running a gig of 5400ddr2, a am2 amd x2 3800+ and I can't decided which card will do me the most good.

I've heard great things about the gto's OCing ability

I'm a novice overclocker, but it's something I'm willing to look into. On the other hand the x850 seems like a great card.

also on a side table there's this 7800gt, but it have misgivings about it.

Please, any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. If you have other advice about what I should put in/ take out of my system I would also be receptive to that. I really just like to know what I'm buying before I do it.

Thank you very much

The GTO after rebate would be the GPU I'd consider the most. There's definetly some performance increase when compared to the X850.

The 7800 would be my next choice... but I feel thats still kinda high for a refurbed card a generation old.

There's some good benchmarks that include all three cards. The 7800GT is generally faster than all three. The X1800GTO includes the newest technology and isn't that much slower than a 7800GT, and it should be able to flash to an XL or an XT maybe, not exactly sure though. I wouldn't recommend the X850XT PE unless you were on a strict budget. What kind of games do you play?
