My son and I have our computers hooked together so we can do multiplayer gaming with Serious Sam 2. Lately, we've been having problems with crashing while playing together. Either can play the individual single player game without a hitch, but after playing multiplayer for about 5 minutes my PC (host) freezes the game and says that it must quit. This leads me to believe it's a network problem. Is there anything special that needs to be set up for LAN gaming? I know almost nothing about networking.
List the computer speeds info of each computer. My friend and I had problems running CIV III on multiplayer because my computer was too slow and couldnt keep up with the connection. I was on an old K6-2 550 he was on a P3-800.
Have you updated with the patches for serious sam?
Are you connected directly or are you using a router, switch, or a hub?
Does the network work fine otherwise or do you have any other problems.
Please list your network config including ip address, subnet mask and default gateway of each computer.
Goto start - run and type cmd and then press enter.
In box that pops up type ipconfig /all and list what the info says here on the forum.
We are running computers with a pretty big speed difference. Mine is a P4 2.8 gig and his is a P3 733. We're connected directly without a hub. Just using a crossover cable. The network seems to work fine (but I've yet to figure out how to let him access the Internet through my PC). Here are the network configs.
Mine:
Eternet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
IP Address.....:191.161.1.101
Subnet Mask....:255.255.255.0
Default Gateway..
His:
Eternet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix:
IP Address.....:191.161.1.102
Subnet Mask....:255.255.0.0
Default Gateway..:
One thing I just noticed when I typed this was the difference in the Subnet Mask. Mine has 255 three times, his only twice. Is that a problem?
