I don't quite feel like producing an article right now... what you're asking for should be easy to find on Google. If you have a question slightly more specific, I'll be glad to answer though.

Well, i know its a general and wide angled question, but i thought everyone would pitch in and give 1 example.

What is better, Nvidia PureVideo or ATi VIVO, and howcome some Nvidia cards have VIVO?

Well actually ATI X19xx's cards have AVIVO, which is superior to Puervideo.

Gerenally speaking a X1900XT will outperform a 7900GT in everything you throw at it. but it is also a higher pricetag.

IF you have the money get the X1900XT, If you are on a budget get the 7900GT

First, you shouldn't compare the X1900XT to a 7900GT, the X1900 kills the 7900GT. If you're going to compare a X1900XT or an nVidia card, compare it to the 7900GTX.

No, im going to buy a 512Mb version 7900 GT and overclock it to a GTX level, thus saving millions. Course the 512Mb version is the same price as the X1900XT and it dosent need overclocking to be an XTX (i dont call 25Mhz overclocking). But then the GTX has 1.5x the texture fill and the XTX has 2x the shader power, but the shader power is overkill. Woh, what were we talking abt again? Oh, right.. PureVideo isnt as good as AVIVO, how come? and how come some Nvidia cards have AVIVO?

You could get an X1800XT - these are very good overclockers if you can control the heat output.

But really you'd be happy with any of these cards. One difference is that the X1000 series can do AA and HDR at the same time (except in HL2, which uses a less common type of HDR). No current NVIDIA card can do this.
