i'm having a major problem with is. we just purshase a new dell server with
Windows server 2003. i ran dcpromo and made this a domain controller. its the
only domain controller. i than installed dns and also added the ip
information on the network card. made the server ip address the prefered dns
by inserting the ip address in the first dns box.

i'm able to ping the server from the client computer, but when i go to join
the domain. a popup box appear i enter the "administrator" as the username
and enter the "Password" in the password box. it take a bit, but i recieve a
error "Logon failure: unknow user or bad passowrd". this is the same account
information i use to logon to the domain and i'm using the correct logon
infromation. please help. i work for a school with limited fund and need to
resolve this asap.
i'm using windows server 2003 interprise edition.

also i added the server's ip as the client prefered dns, but that didn't
work eitther. Help.

When it prompts for password try putting in domainname(the name of your
domain)\administrator then the password.
