AGP system which one.. i would like HDR and realize the gto wont do that but it is even reasonable that in Source these cards can handle HDR?

This guy has a used 7800GS for sale that's worth considering.

IIRC, any of those cards will run HDR in HL2 because the HDR used in HL2 doesn't use SM3.0.

In the source engine, the X800 can perform HDR, because it is a SM 2.0 compliant method of HDR.

The X800 is also the fastest card of the three.

Avoid the 6800 XT entirely, it's crippled to 8 pipelines. The 7600 GS is good, but the X800 GTO is probably faster. Yes, fast enough for HDR in the source engine. :)

If you want HDR then get the 7600gs. DON'T get the 6800XT. It's crap compared to the other two. If you only care about HDR in HL2, check out this link. While the X800XL and X850pro don't have the newer features, they perform a bit better than the 7600gs and x800gto, and are really cheap. http://shop.ati.com/searchresults.asp?dept_id=39

Ok what about FarCry HDR?

Reply to PJ101

I believe Far Cry uses sm 3.0 HDR

Reply to kaotao

The only HDR enabled game engine that doesn't require more than SM 2.0 is source, as far as I know.

Far cry - Oblivion - AOE3 - all require SM 3.0 for HDR.

x800gto, just look at the specs

If you want accross the board SM3.0 support, then the 7600GS is the best choice of cards you listed.

The other choice is to look for a used 6800Ultra or 6800GT on eBay.

You should also consider the $180.00 7800GS that GeneticWeapon is selling. That's a decent card for that price.

Best out of the 3, and the cheapest i believe too. Try www.newegg.com, or ati.com under the clearance section. Both have great deals on them.

$180 for a 7800GS? Too bad I already bought that x800xl.
