I know the Intel Core 2 Duo is better but im a AMD guy and Im sure they'll have something nice out in time and Ill upgrade the processor then.

Ok.. $1500 is plenty, but I would not spend it all now. I would buy in two stages. Now and in December when 65nm CPUs and DX10 cards come out.

Motherboard: Asus M2N-E- $95
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131022

CPU: X2-3800+ (no reason to get anything higher than this right now)- $154.50
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103735

RAM- Corsair XMS 2GB DDR2-800 CAS 4- $255
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145034

Video Card: eVGA 7600GT- $166
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130017

Power Supply- Antec Truepower II 550W- $97
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103932

In December upgrade the CPU to a 65nm CPU and the video card to a DX10 card. You won't spend more than $1500 total. :)
