Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics (More info?)

All of my icons apart from the default window icons have
stopped functioning. I get the default icon you'd get if
there was no icon for the file, or if the file was not
recgnised. What can I do?

Try the .lnk (shortcut) repair file under WinXP Fixes/File Association Fixes
