I hate to inform you but those computers won't let you play the latest games. However i'm assuming what you mean by latest games to mean Oblivion.
What kind of games are we talking about?

Is there anything out there for $500 that I would be able to play decent games on? I guess when I say newest games I don't mean the absolute newest but I don't want to have to upgrade again really soon.
then i would recommend that you put your money in a bank and save some more cash. A decent compouter is going to run you 1500 bucks about. I'm sure some people can do better or worst.
those computers you picked out is good for word, browsing the web, and itunes - thats about it.

get this one it has a pci express 16x slot. you can buy a better graphics card later and pop it in. Be forwarned however that the power supply is only 300watts. pay close attention when buying a video card and what the minimum requirement for a power supply is when buying one.
I still say if you can save up some more money. If you need something now then get that. Should be pretty upgradeable. Not sure on the power supply though.
you can look up the motherboard: MSI RS482M4-ILD Micro ATX - check out MSI's site and search for that and check out the specs before buying. see how upgradable it really is. I would call up newegg and ask if that powersupply is capable of being upgraded with a standard power supply.

I appreciate all the help so far. Here in TN we have a tax free weekend on computers. That's the only reason I wanted it right now.
The computer I have right now (and forgive me for not knowing all of the correct terms) has 512mb ram, 1.3ghz processor- i think and a simple video card. I am able to play simple games online like Runescape but not Ultima Online or Sims 2.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
What are the specs on your current computer (Assuming that you are not using a public computer), it may be worthwhile to consider an upgrade if its not obselete.
The video card is the thing holding back those computers. You can buy one of those, and get a X800GTO for less than $100, and you'll be able to play games with good framerates.
But make sure the PC you get has at least 1gb of RAM.
Forget an X800GTO; get this X850XT (they just raised the price by $10).
It is a decent 'rig but I'd rather suggest 2x 512MB instead of a single 1GB.
I'm sure that it is possible to price out an AM2 or LGA775 system but a C2D ready system is out of the question AFAIK (feel free to prove me wrong though) !
Ok, I have decided not to do anything this weekend but I am going to take all of this advice and learn as much as I can before purchasing what I need.
Is it that hard to put a computer together myself? I have installed my own dvd drive and put ram and a video card in before but that's all.
How do I find out my specs easily? Thanks so much!!

Grayce .... AMD A64 3200+ is a very good cpu for gaming (yes, even against the latest and toughes games). You should focus your funds on a decent graphics card. I'd say Nvidia 7600GT. ATI tend to be more expensive. OR if you can get an AGP system, you can get 6800GS , which is also incredibly fast for most games. The only downside is not being able to upgrade your graphics card in the future. Both 6800GS and 7600GT not only rips through sims2 and ultima .... it completely vapourises them.
Oh , and get 1GB ram. New games are memory hogs. (and get 1 stick 1GB ram ... its usually cheaper than 2x512MB). And DON'T get brand name rams. They are ONLY needed for OverClocking. Computers at stock speeds don't die from using generic rams. Don't let people tell you otherwise. (Afterall ... this is a budget computer. Forget expensive brand names for rams. ONLY for Power Supplys)
