I'm using XP Pro and have two hard drives installed. My C drive has packed it in. When I replace this drive what must I do to make sure I can access the files and programs installed on my second drive (partitioned)?

The only thing you may need to do is reinstall any applications you installed to D before C packed it in. If D is just for storage, you won't need to do anything at all.
