Ram usage on windows 7

Both 32bit and 64bit Windows 7 will run fine with 4GB of RAM. It is also sufficient for gaming although 8GB is becoming more common since RAM is so cheap right now. You need a 64bit OS to use more than 3.25GB though.
 
If you have 4GB of RAM then the 32-bit version of Windows 7 actually won't be able to use all of it. It can access a maximum of around 3.5GB, depending on the memory aperture of your video card.

You'd probably be better off using the 64-bit version, which access all of it, even if you decide to add more in the future.
