The Gigabyte looks to be a good mobo.

If you are going for an E6600 then you are certainly approaching being a power user, in which case you should certainly consider 2gb RAM which is widely accepted as necessary even in XP for high end games and applications, let alone trying to build in some Vista future-proofing.

Make sure that you get ram only specified by Gigabyte to work w/ that motherboard if you plan on purchasing it. Very specific when it comes to voltage and CAS. Yeah I would get 2 gigs.

If you're not overclocking, then the 533 RAM will do.

You could consider overclocking, and get a cheaper CPU, i.e. an E6400 and some more expensive RAM - just as an alternative - might work out cheaper, and you might be able to get 2gb which WILL benefit you.

If your building on a 1000 budget I would suggest not getting a 6600 it seems too exspensive to fit into your budget, I am building a computer on a 2000 dollar budget and I am going to use a 6600
