Hi,
My campus administrator installed a wireless network recently, and I've
been trying to access it for some time now. This is how it works: the
access point has no encryption, so anyone with a wireless card can get
in. After you get associated, you get an internal IP address through DHCP.
After that, you are supposed to connect to their gateway through VPN. I
have the VPN configured, and working. What bothers me is that I cannot
tell all network applications to use that VPN connection by default. In
another words, if I set Messaging to use the VPN, when I move to a
different network, my PPC will try to connect to that VPN gateway which
is of course inaccesible.

The only way to funnel everything through the tunnel is to add "*.*" to the
exceptions list. While this should work great when you're using the campus
wifi, it will be frustrating when you are on a different network because
there's no way to set profiles for the exceptions list. My only suggestion
would be to add "*.*" to the exceptions when you want to use the schools
network and delete it when you're elsewhere. Is it a pain.....oh very much
so but there's no way around it.

Geez... as if they couldn't use 802.1x instead... Thanks for the
information, it really helped me out

No problem, and I agree 802.1x would've been much easier.
