Conroe Motherboards

I am thinking of putting together a conroe e6400 system since its been a few years since I built my last system and I am wondering which motherboards are getting good reviews for the conroe chipset. I am looking for a solid overclocking board that will be able to push the conroe but I have been a amd buyer so I am unfamilar with the intel design and hope that you guys could help recommend some boards and other hardware that may run better on intel based systems over amd systems.

So far the Asus P5W DH seems to be the best board to overclock Conroe. The Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 seems to be the best of the 965 chipset mobo's. Both boards are expensive(of course) at around $270. GL

Almost forgot about that Abit board.

Guess it will be some time when NewEgg gets there inventory straighten out on what will work on C2D.

I saw they have 2 catagories:

# Intel Core2 Extreme/Core2 Duo/Pentium D/Celeron D (2)
# Intel Core2 Extreme/Core2 Duo/Pentium EE/Pentium D (6)

So a total of 8 boards from those selections.

The AB9 Pro wasn't in that when I checked.

What about the Bad Axe motherboard??? It currently holds the record for an Conroe overclock of 5.5GHz.

What about the Bad Axe motherboard??? It currently holds the record for an Conroe overclock of 5.5GHz.

Keep in mind that Coolalers Bad Axe had to be heavily modified to overclock like that. It won't be so easy on your regular unmodded retail Intel board.
