For Back up purposes my boss wants me to Mirror an existing server. We bought
the right size hard drive and partioned it correctly, but we cant seem to
change either disk from simple to dynamic. I was told that I have to take the
server out of domain controler mode to do this, anyone have any idea how to
do this? The only tech net artical I could find on this says you have to
delete the AD! I dont want to have to do that.

All I need is the procedure to Mirror a server that is a domain controller.
Please sombody help me

I'm by no means an expert in this subject matter in mirroring nor Disaster
Recovery, but I'll try to assist you to the best of my ability. Have you
checked out the process using SysPrep?

How To Use the System Preparation Tool (Sysprep.exe) to Perform Disk
Duplication

What Is Sysprep?

Special domain controller installation process
===============================
You cannot deploy preconfigured domain controllers by using image-based
installation with Sysprep. However, you can configure a domain controller by
first deploying a member server and then automatically running a script that
runs Dcpromo.exe, the Active Directory Installation Wizard.

Never heard about having to remove AD so you can mirror. That doesn't make
sense since the disk being dynamic anyway.

I believe the mistake you made was partitioning the 2nd drive. See step 7
"select an unallocated dynamic disk "

Best of luck!
