Hello,
symptoms: I have LAN access, can map drives, ping and so forth. I can
ping the name server, which is outside my domain. In fact, I can ping
any internet IP address. Outbound http, ftp, telnet, ssh fail, even
when directed to an IP address. Name resolution fails.
All this functionality used to work, but I use it so seldom on this
machine that I have no idea when it might have gone off. In
desperation, I wiped the partition and reinstalled, but the symtoms
persist.
I put linux on a second partition and booted it and all internet
access, etc. works fine. That, plus the fact that I have LAN, makes
me believe it is not a hardware issue. It could be that windows is
doing something odd for routing, but I don't see anything out of the
ordinary. And, why would it be doing it OOB?
Right now, it's just a vanilla installation. Installed Win2k
Adv. Svr on a clean partition, hardware drivers and that's it.
Thanks for any suggestions. Very frustrating, as I need to get this
working.

COMPETITION: An event in which there are more losers than winners.
Otherwise it's not a competition. A society based on competition is
therefore primarily a society based on losers. -- John Ralston Saul
