How Do I ID Com Port?

Greetings!

I'm trying to connect a radio modem to my computer serial port (DB-25). My
computer keeps showing a message that Com Port 1 is already in use, but when
I go to system manager, nothing shows up for com ports. How do I find out
what is currently using com port 1? I am running XP home edition on a
laptop with Celeron 1.8 Ghz.

Many thank in advance!

If you have a modem in your PC, it has an on-board COM Port
probably on Port #1 or 3 which are multiplexed together. To get
your device to work, you'll need to reconfigure the BIOS settings
for Serial Port A to use COM2 and IRQ #3. If your motherboard
has two Serial ports (A/B) you'll want to disable A and use B w/
the settings mentioned before.
