Hi,

I have a W2000AS with system disk of 4 Gb, 29% free (1.2 Gb)

If I analyse the disk, it shows massive fragmentation, and the graphic is
mostly red.

When I run defrag, it takes ages, the graphic seems to flick from one shot
to another with very few disfferences. After say 20 - 30 mins, the process
finishes, but there is no improvement in the fragmentation.

Any suggestions what to do?

Many thanks,

NEIL

Look at the report generated. Are the files that it is not defragging locked?

Possibly you just need to rerun the defrag multiple times.

I would suggest 3rd party software like Diskeeper will give you better
results. It also has a boot time defrag that will take care of the locked
files issue.
