After a whole lot of switching back and forth, I finally decided to change my purchase of a 7900GTX in favor of a X1900XTX.
The reason for doing so, was that both cards are way too loud, so I'm gonna end up buying an after market cooling anyway and since I'm buying a mobo with xFire possibilities I could just as well pick an ATI board.
But then I read a test on X-bit Labs where they tested the cooling capabilities of the Zalman VF900-Cu, which is one of the better cooling devices to date. The result: at medium speed the VGA core was at 83,5 C at full load.
83,5 C !!!! that's hot. Hotter than hell is what I think.
Therefore, I'm wondering how you guys who own a X1900XTX have chosen to cool your board and how it worked.
My specs:
Antec P180 + 4 x Nexus Real Silent 120 mm case fans
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 + Scythe Ninja w. Papst fan
Asus P5W DH
2 Gb Corsair PC6400
2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 Gb
Asus X1900XTX + Zalman VF900-Cu
Creative X-Fi Extreme Music
NED ND-3550 DVD-RW

You know I dont have any idea why so many people recommend a Zalman!? especially for an X1900XT! it does a crappy job on that video card and in alot of test I have seen it was actually worse than the stock cooler!
Before I tell you how I have my X1900XT cooled I would just like for you to know that I have it at @ 40c idle and 54c under full load! air cooling mind you!
Here is what I did and you will want to make sure that your Case has good airflow because of the design of this fan! I installed the arctic cooling accelero unit on my X1900XT and my temps at idle droped from 57c to 49c and load temps went from 80c to 67c.
I was kind of satisfied but felt I could do even better so I installed 2 120mm fans directly underneath the X1900XT blowing air up onto the Voltage regulaters and everything! my idle temps were then 40c and load never gets over 54c and thats playing overclocked at 730core and 832mem with a increase in voltage!
The specs I put down is my current order. I have until friday to change anything I want before it goes to shipping. This is what my current setup will look like if nothing's altered.
So the Accelero does a better job, huh? I'll be darned...
I'll maybe go for the Accelero, but I was wondering about the sound level of it? Naturally it's gotta be better than stock cooling, but how silent can you get it to be?

Ha! I have mine on 100% fan speed and its not even audible. Its simply an amazing little fan! 8)
Im rockin a MSI X1900XT overclocked to 680/800. Using ATI tray to adjust the fans the highest it hits is about 70 and it cools to the mid 40s idle. All on stock cooling.
