Pen Drive Questions

I hope that this is the right forum for this question.

I have 5 different mfg. thumb/pen/travel memory drives.

Both a new Memorex Travel drive, and a very old Micro Advantage drive can be booted from, as they are recognized by the ECS Motherboard BIOS as "USB-HD" devices. It's really nice having a 32M drive to boot from somethimes!

The Nexdisk, PNY Attache, and the San Disk Cruiser are not recognized by the BIOS and can not be booted from.

QUESTION : Before I purchase my next pen drive, how can I determine if it is going to be recognized by BIOS? Is there some kind of specification that I should be looking for? Sales people do not have a clue what I am talking about.

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I should have been a little more specific ... or generic.

I'd like to determine how to make any (generic) USB memory drive bootable.

How can I tell at time of purchase which brands might be bootable by my system?
