Will there be a big GAIN in performance?

I have an 939 AMD 3200+ CPU now... looking at a 939 AMD 4000+ CPU soon. Will I notice a differance in performance for $139 purchase?

yes there will be a difference you will notice a bit faster.

off side: why update that cpu and mobo when its gonna get old soon.
i would just save money

I agree, i would save the cash and just do a total upgrade to AM2 and Dual Core later.

i was looking at the AM2 socket... with 4200 X2 AMD.. yum

Disregard my earlier post, I was trying to say it's not worth the money, instead save it and upgrade to an AM2 board and a dual core later.

Get a X2 for socket 939; you’ve already got 2GB of DDR so you’ll save money.
