just built a new system for my daughter with a 939 dual, put in an a64 4000+, ati x850xt, 1 gig corsair value ram, 2 x 512, cas 2.5 & a wd 250 gig ata hard drive. i di put the drivers that came with the disk in, then put the vid card driver in. her old system was an xp3200+, on an asus a7n8x deluxe, 120 gig ata wd hard drive, same ram. both using xp home w/service pak 2, new system with a fresh install. my question is why the new system takes 30 seconds longer to boot than the old system?new system using bios 2.2 any help would be very welcomed. thanks.

Go into the Bios and disable any component you aren't using to include the unused IDE Channel. This should help speed up your boot time.

Good Luck!

thanks, i think i already did this, or part of it anyway, will go back in & try to make sure all unnec items are turned off. could it be anything else, maybe the hard drive will loosen up a bit in a few days, maybe this board/chip (uli) set is slower than nvidia?

Another thing you can try is to visit the guys at ocworkbench. They have a strong support community especially when it comes to ASRock boards. Chances are you will find what you need there. Just google ocworkbench.
