I have been looking through the graphics card available on www.ncix.com for a while, and none of them seems to be a good deal. Partially this is because i have no idea what the model numbers mean, and i am confused whenever a X1800 is more than a X1900.
this is the last missing component in the pc i am building
Does anybody know a good deal in canadian dollars for a Ati graphics card, because i could use that price with their pricecompare feature, or else just pick that GPU from the list
ideally i would like to spend ~$200 CDN on the graphics card
(ideally i would also be able to play UT2004 at the highest settings at 30+fps, my current pc gets under 10 fps on lowest setting in any onslaught map)
If you are looking at ATi cards in the $200 range, try Sapphire's Radeon X1600XT, www.cancomputer.com has it for like $175, they also have the X1800GTO for like $230. Hope that helps.
thanks, thats exactly what i needed, ncix wanted $300 for the X1800 gto, but now i cant get the pricematch feature to do anything. would i be better off with the X1800XT for $200 USD at newegg?

Depending if you want to spend the extra dollars, IMHO, I would go for the X1600XT now and wait on the DX10 cards to be released so the price of the X1900XTX's to come down. That card should definitely suffice for now, and save you some money on the interim.
yeah, just checked that, really sux, cus that was a good deal
I was really hoping to get a solid graphics card that i could keep for a year or 2, i have not heard good things about the X1600 so i was avoiding it, i wanted a X850 XT but they left the ati store.
any chance i can get that card to ship to canada ?

If you got a Future Shop near you, they have an x850 Platinum Edition for only $239.99.
look around for either an x800 gto or a x1800 gto, there running around 230 cdn, buying from a us online retailer,u will more than likely be charged brokerage fees on shipping also, something to remember!

Any current graphics card will play UT2004 at the max.
I am running UT2k4 @ 1680X1050 with nearly everything on high and I still get 30+FPS with am ATI 9600 PRO 256mb.
It is a lousy card compared to most cards today. So you should be doing well with the recommended cards.
I like Onslaught too.... Great online gaming. Some of the "old hat" UT gamers think that Onslaught is too easy.... These are the same guys that typically do not do well in that game . Those same guys will own you in the one on ones/DM .
I got the ATI X1800XL from NCIX last week when it was $249.99, I was waiting for the EVGA 7600 GT KO's to come in, but I got inpatient and opted out for the X1800XL for $50 more, I am waiting for it to arrive to complete my new computer now. To bad they jacked the price back up to an unreasonable $342 8O

Hell, my 9550 runs it max
