Ok this is my first time building a system myself....ok
my question is this:
Did i screw myself with this motherboard.....since its one of the first ASUS motherboards that support AMD2 processors?
I noticed that most of the newer boards specifically state things like dual L2 cache support?
Am I going to get any benifit out of my dual processor?
Any information one can give me will help?
Please give me as much help as possible I am a novice but understand the technology

I don't understand what you are so worked up about...
Did you waste your money? No, your system will work perfectly well, are there better motherboards with more features now? Yes there are, so what? That will always be the case. DUAL core processors were around for quite a bit before AM2 so I'm sure that you are getting the full use of your cpu.
Now stop complaining and just enjoy your machine, or return the motherboard and get the newest one.
The greatest thrill in the first build as i remember is the unknown....
So...instead of suggestions......some advice
Just enjoy building it......if you run into problems just ask around about it.....
......or try yourself first..........the feeling of victory when you managed to solve a specific problem is priceless.....
And if you stick to some basic rules, handle all the components with some care and with antistatic gloves (or those grey ish bags from the components, use them as gloves)
You be fine, you cant go wrong really, most will fit one way only or will be described in the manual........
I always put the ram. cpu and cooler on the board before putting the board into the casing. This way its easier to plug those in without damaging the board. If the board is already mounted into the case it sits on risers.....it sometimes happens the board bents a bit when pushing in the ram, in that position, risking the board to fracture in one of its layers.
So lay your board down on a flat surface (there is often a small sheet of carbon based foam in the mainboards box) with the foam under it.
And put in the ram, cpu and cooler.
Rarely will a CPU be "crippled" by a motherboard. Unless there was a case of FSB mis-match (this isn't one of those cases mindyou). I personally have not been a big fan of VIA chipsets but to each his own. I think you will be good on this nothing to worry bout
Don't get scared all the new builds don't start the first time i it will start at some point but with problems that you will figure out,you diden't throw your money away
thanks all for the input....except for the one bitching at me.....yah i will enjoy my new/first system.....I just wanted to make sure i didn't miss anything before i put it together....
