Installed Vista home premium on a recent build for my brother with this motherboard:
ASUS P5B-E LGA 775 Intel P965 Express
Specs here. He then installed a Linksys wireless card. (Sorry don't have the model #)
He cannot connect to the internet through his router with either the wireless card or a ethernet cable. Vista will see the connection and connect, then disconnect after a few seconds. This happens over and over.
At his wits end.
When I built this machine at my home and needed to update some drivers I connected to my Linksys gateway with a USB connection and had no trouble.
Were the drivers installed through Vista or from the Linksys site? Vista
instantly recognized my video card and installed a driver for the correct
model, but I had a few game issues until I installed the driver directly from
nVidia.
*edit-after Vista had updated the driver...twice.*
Not sure what he did...I'll be stopping over there tomorrow night and see what I can do. Probably going to start with a reinstall of all pertinent drivers.
Ok...first off, networking is not my forte, (we all know what is) I don't have a network at home so I have little or no experience with them. But hey, the Vista welcome screen promises to make connections easier than ever before........
Apparently Vista doesn't like working with his DSL device from Verizon. Going to the manufacurers website we found a prepared message stating the equipment was built specifically for verizon and to contact them.
While my brother called them and went through the tedious menu, I reinstalled Vista and we were encountering the same problems. When we finally got to talk to a nice man from India named Jefferson, we were informed that we should reinstall Vista. 8O
We thanked him for his time and hung up.
We dug an old DLink device out of the closet, ran the ethernet cable from the computer to it, and then a cable from the Dlink to the DSL. Viola! A solid internet connection was achieved. However, there is no network sharing of printer etc.
I'm wondering if Vista/xp networking is even possible? Or if it is as simple as needing an upgrade of equipment from Verizon.
I have Verizon DSL as well. Vista found my router instantly and have not had a problem.
Originally my wifes laptop, also running Vista, would not find the router sometimes until I
manually selected it, but once I stopped being lazy and set the router to accept only
her laptop wirelessly, it's been fine.

that about figures
anyway i had problems with yahoo modems for dsl and xp64.
a long time ago. the yahoo dsl sofware gave me error mess.
that said it was not compatible with 64bit o.s. :x
hopefully vista will actually get some good drivers/servicepacks
that fix all this Shit.
Well, from what I've seen this place is a s*** factory. Mugz runs the labs; Ninja does the R; WW does the D; lvdax Gimps the ads; Cheez is the ad model; Tom steals competitor secrets; Bomber throws company parties with feminist hookers and boutique beers; Wingy does stress testing and packaging; Llama proofreads the documentation and labels; Jef handles shipment; AV handles delivery; and RC drinks Coors.
I think Riser must be the seller. Just don't buy any of his s***.
