Sup guys. This is my first post! I usually roam around the Maximum PC forums, which is a great place, but im gonna try the tg forumz for fun.

Well I have a maxtor 200gb external HD. For some reason it won't transfer single files larger than around 3 gigs. Is it because it is formatted in FAT32?

FAT32 is limited to 4 Gb files,
might be a faulty cable/interface i've had a drive that refused to transfer because it was in the wrong USB port, for some reason it would not work properly unless it was using a usb port from the mobo, not the pins.
also when that drive heats up it starts to click which leads me to belive its time to replace it
also, format your drive to NTFS and give it a go

Thanks for all the replies. Yea I;m trying to transfer a 4.81 gig file. So it's probably needs to be formatted to NTFS. Thanks
