Usb port stopped working
Hello, I have a wireless mouse, which upto yesterday worked fine. I then got a message to say that the USB device had a malfunction. When I went into Device Manager it showed an alert against the device in that port and said " Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43). However if I use this device in other ports in works fine, and other devices will not work in this particular port. It seems that the USB port is faulty and not the devices. Please can anyone help?
Is this a desktop or laptop/notebook system? It is possible that the port you were using is defective. Many desktop front panel USB ports are poorly made and multiple insertions/removals can lead to failure. If a desktop, you should verify that the USB header connector is attached firmly (in the event you were working inside your case recently).
For either a laptop or a desktop, make sure there are no obstructions in the port itself (potentially shorting the port).
