Hey all,

I was all happy and all that my E6300 arrived today so I could fire up my rig, but here's what's happening:

I turn it on and it flashes the power and shuts down. Two seconds later the power comes up again for about 3 seconds and shuts down again. And from then on the cycle repeats (2 sec down, 3 sec on) until I turn the power supply off.

I never hear any beeps or anything. I've tried taking the mobo out of the case, inserting the stock cooler, booting with only one stick of RAM, etc. I can't think of anything else and I've never seen this behavior before (and it's not the first rig I put together...) Since I can't hear even one beep from the BIOS I am suspecting it's a DOA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Here's what I have:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
OCZ DDR2 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400 CL 5-5-5-12 Gold GX XTC Dual Channel OCZ2G8002GK
Connect3D Radeon X1900GT 256 MB
2 x 160 GB HITACHI Deskstar T7K250
DVD-RW
FDD
Card Reader
Thermaltake Bigwater SE
APEVIA (ASPIRE) ATX-AS680W-BL ATX12V/ EPS12V 680W

Any help will be more than appreciated.

Could be the fan. I had the same problem. The processor fan was defective and the board had a fan failure shut off. If you have an extra fan for 775 laying around try it.

It's your RAM. The DS3 is very picky with RAM.

Your OCZ is not on the compatability list for the board. You are either going to have to find a temporary stick of RAM that runs at default 1.8v long enough for you to change the BIOS settings or RMA the stuff you have currently.

Good luck,

Thanks for the replies guys. It was the RAM.

I just got myself a pair of Corsair XMS2 and I'm happy to say that I'm typping this from my new Core 2 Duo gig.

I really appreciate your help!
