I have a E6400 and Ocz gold ddr2 that I want to install on my new build(temporarily). The problem is I'm returning both of them next week when my E6600 and Crucial ddr2 comes in probably Tuesday or Wednesday.
What are your guys opinions.
1. Can I go ahead and install windows XP and start enjoying my Conroe system?
2. Wait - This is the hardest option.
Basicaly, if I can just swap the RAM and CPU with the new ones, do you guys think windows will have any stability issues? I just bought 2 more Raptors 150's($199 @newegg right now) for a total of 4 in Radid0 and extremly motivated to get started on this build. I have built many computers but this is my first with DDR2. I'm not sure how windows is going to react to switching DDR2 RAM on it. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, set my mind at ease guys.
You should be pretty good.. i had an issue when i swapped motherboards though.. i had to call M$ and get it activated... that was right when SP1 came out.. but after losing my windows cd's.. i got fed up and decided to go to the dark side.
A whole week without your new Conroe?
What a shame. Windows hates hardware changes but that shouldn’t have to great of an effect on the operating system.
If it messes up
Who cares ….reload it and enjoy.
