I have some seksi components coming in the mail soon.. and i decided to dust off my alienware case and use it due to its huge size... well.. i really dont' want to hide the components and i would like some type of window to show off my shite.. its the newer style .. with the "eyes" in the front.. if anyone has any good links to anything i could possibly buy or do.. let me in on it please..

i am in the process of googling for it, but im not having too much luck right now.

Or, you can cheat and buy a kit from Directron, which are very inexpensive:

Some of them come with everything, even a hand tool to cut the panel.

thanks for the replies.. i agree with you on the do it yourself kick.. i just am really having troubles figuring out what i want to do to this thing and am trying to get idea's. I was hoping to see some possible window solutions on these alienware cases.. its not the old one.. but the one thats not the new one now...

I will go water cooling soon.. as well.. and then i definately need to show that stuff off. ^^

The stock case is frickin sweet.. but ya know.. i have that itch we all get when it comes to computers.. and i just can't leave it alone. I'd like to show off my dorky side obviously with this project.. and when people come over to see my new house i want them to see it and just be amazed.

I guess most people that buy alienwares just don't ever have the same itch because i've only found one other person on the net so far with a modded out true custom case.

I already have a Antec Super Lanboy case.. but to be honest with ya it is garbage when it comes to quality IMO.. and i just need more room for my seksi beast... as well this alienware case truely does an amazing cooling job with fans.

but i'll keep the search on for shtuff and idea's.. i'll post some pics someday to show you guys.. i didn't know if anyone here in THG really enjoyed the modded PC cases..

Has anyone modded a Thermaltake Shark so that it has plexiglass instead of the open honeycomb structure?

Just looking at pictures of the case on newegg and it looks possible. I just can't see how the screen is attached. But you should be able to pop it out and het a piece of plexi in there. If a flat piece wont fit take 2 smaller peices, one for each opening, and heat them up to about 300f. this will soften them up enough to mold them into place. then it's a matter of attaching them.

Sounds difficult for a non DIY expert, hehe.

I've been looking around at materials.. .. have you ever tried to form plexi glass to form nice smoothe curves..?

I'm really having troubles figuring out what to do with the "eye"... if i had a camera i'd be able to show you what i mean by that.. but i removed the door obviously.. took the big piece of "custom" plasitc off of the door and took the eye out of the plastic piece.. I may have to buy a new door for the case if i reject the entire plastic piece because they use so many holes in the process of attaching it.. may be ugly as eff..

as for the front of it i wanted one side to be original alienware style "maybe.. not once i get into it.." and the the other side to be like a tweaked out eye.. not sure what yet.. but i want it to hide the front of the case a bit.. but maybe i can form something to fit the eye.. then the side i want pretty much an entire door window to show it all off... i may be having a copper block milled for my 7900gt because some of the nice water blocks for them are like 250 freakin dollars.

if you have any suggestions on sites or anything that may inspire me to create something a little bit different.. that'd be sweet.. i am pretty lame and i absolutely love the UV stuff though so that is a must.
