This depends. The other day the clerk completely forgot to even charge me, but I reminded him.
Another time I found a wallet filled with an easy $3000-$4000, maybe more, in cash. I returned that as well. That's one situation though where I regret returning the wallet since I know the authority I returned it to, my boss, didn't return it to the rightfull owner.
i would ask him what kind of stupid motherfucking, dipshit for brains, blubbering [-peep-]hole, dickless wonder does he think he is? that he can't make change for the purchase of a box of jr. chocolate minimints! just the fact that i'll have to stand there an additional 45-90secs while the dumbass corrects his error.
I run duals because i multitask between notepad, outlook express and winamp
Because of dhlucke`s example this will indeed seem uncanny, it is. Many years back my g/f and I were on a trip to the canadian rockies. At the train station in Banff, we found a wallet at the public phone booth. It was LOADED. USD + Autralian dollars, easily over 1000 perhaps 2000-3000. We were young 15 and 19. We brought the wallet as is to the local police station. 1 month later we received a letter from Autralia. Yes indeed. The father`s daughter send uds one of the kindest letters you could ever receive + $50 reward. She explained it was all their families expense money for their trip.
Many times this event comes back to mind and I wonder: would I repeat the same unselfish action? I have doughts! I have stolen things in my youth. I am far from pure. However if we do have a karma, this above action has bosted mine a great deal this I FEEL.

Actually incorrect change I will let them know. They could get into trouble for that. But if it's a large department store (I wont do it to small buisnesses) and they forget to ring me up for something, I'll walk right out with a grin on my face, laughing at their stupidity all the way to my car. A while back I think I posted something on the idiots at Fry's giving me a 1.33Ghz Proc instead of the 1.13 proc I paid for. Now how many people here would stop and say, "Excuse me you handed me the wrong processer, it's supposed to be the slower one"
I once ordered a set of Excel 95 on floppies from the local MS distributor. I forgot to put the check in the envelop. They sent the floppies anyway and still did not mention payment! I immediatly sent them back a second envelop with the check and a note of commendation.

three women go for a job interview at a department store. the manager asks the first woman "if at the end of the day your till was $10.00 over what would you do?"
"i'd leave it in the till with a note explaining i had no idea where it came from"
he asks the second womam the same question "well i would take $5.00 and leave $5.00 in the till" when asked the same question the third woman replies "well i'd check once agian and if the till was still over i'd keep it and not say a word to anybody"
the question is who gets the job

Although it has a lot of good ideas, beer doesn't know anything about computers!!!
Yes, I would let them know for conscience sake. I remember once I stole a watch from someone, and later my guilty conscience disturbed so that I gave it away. Years later someone stole my very expensive prized bicycle. I was crusted, but my conscience reminded me of how the person who lost the watch felt. This was a painful lesson that I have never forgotten.

With a small change I will keep it. But with a large one I would say it especially if it is a small store.
But I don't recount my change often, so there is a big chance I wouldn't even notice it .
Well, considering the only "shopping" I do regularly is at this pizza place very close to me, 711, and my school's cafeteria, there are a few things. The Pizaa place guys I'm freinds w/, and to date they have never given me incorrect change. Same for the 711. Now, my school's cafeteria is a different story. See, they are totally separate from the school, and make their own profits. The food is seriously overpriced, I mean seriosuly- an example is a cookie teh size of a chips ahoy is $1 there! The people occasionally make errors, and once I didn't notice they forgot to give me $10 back. 10 mins later when I went they refused to give me back teh money. However, from time to time instead of giving me back $1, they give me a 5, 10 or 20, in that case I just take it real fast and crack up when my back's turned to them. If I ever find money on teh floor though, I take it, considering the person who lost it will never get it back if I give it to the office or something.
