Epson Photo 820 v. 1280

Hi.
I already own an HP Laser 1200 for printing documents. Now I need a color printer for architectural graphics w/ text. I won't be using the printer often, maybe once or twice a week on average. I'm interested in the Epson Stylus Photo printers. My professor recommended the 1280, for $500. I'd prefer to spend $150 for the Photo 820, because I really don't require larger than 8.5" x 11" paper.

First question: Is the 1280 worth $350 more if I rarely need larger than letter format? Also, if anyone has other printer recommendations I'll take them.

Second question: Do they make a photo paper that can be printed on both sides?

Thanks,
Scott

I've had the 820 before, its a great printer with 6 colors.

only draw back is that it doesnt have seperate ink tanks, and the paper feed mechanism bothered me, (but I think I got the defect, might not be true with all of them)

I dont know anything about the other printer or you second question.

my 2 rubles.

Is it true the 820 can only print borderless or full-bleed up to a maximum of 8x10? So for full bleed letter-size printing I'd need a wider printer?
Thanks.
