Fuzzy graphics and text?

I just upgraded from 2x 6600 vanilla SLI to a Forsa 256MB 7900GT. I'm happy with the card's speed, but it has been giving me fuzzy graphics. This is especially noticeable when reading text. The pixels surrounding text which are supposed to be white tend to flicker a little into light gray every few frames. I have image quality maxed, I haven't overclocked, and I've updated my drivers. My card never gets above 50 degrees. I never had this problem with the 6600s. I suspect the problem might be caused by the fact that the card is outputting DVI, and I use a DVI-to-VGA converter to hook the card up to my monitor. My old cards directly outputted VGA. Does this make sense? Will the problem go away if I get a monitor with DVI input?

If your monitor is an LCD, it probably has some features to adjust this sort of thing ifthe problem is things slightly off-centered.
