Cannot resolve text-URLs, but can resolve IP adrs

I have a Windows 2000 client connected directly to the
Internet through a DSL line. I logged in one morning to
find that I can log onto my local network, I can ping
numeric IP addresses, but I cannot ping any sites with a
URL (http://.....). No changes were made to any part of
my system. Also, I can check and send mail through
Outlook if I change my mail server from mail.ourhost.com,
to the IP address where our mail server resides.

I have internet access, but cannot go to any alpha URLs...
No other computer on our network has been affected by
this, and I have a valid virus checker. Any ideas?????

Tough to say if it's a virus or configuration issue. If you can supply more
info, that would be helpful, such as:

1. ipconfig /all from this machine and from a working machine
2. Verify that you are ONLY using your internal DNS server on all your
machines (DCs and clients).
3. Do you have a forwarder configured?
