Forum Graphics & Displays : Graphics Cards Non-native resolution in LCDs

Is there any way to force a widescreen LCD to do letterboxed 4:3 resolution?

My friend recently got a Toshiba L30 laptop which has 14.1" (1280 x 800) widescreen display. It stretches 4:3 resolutions to fit screen, as a result images look fuzzy and old games which have no support for widescreen resolution look horizontally stretched.

The laptop is using integrated Radeon Xpress 200M graphics.

Can you tell me exactly which CCC option I should use and where can I find it? (a screenshot would be highly appreciated)

(FYI, I don't have the laptop near at hand right now)

Try going into the bios and disabling lcd panel expansion. Take note that anything of non-native resolution will be displayed at its correct resolution and centered with black borders around the screen

That's exactly what I want :D

Thanks for your inputs. I will try both methods as soon as I can.
